Your new home has an existing security system
Many times after you close on a home, you’ll find that the old owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the devices work, are hung in the best places, and are ready to go. In this case, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no compatibility issues, and they could offer options on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you add on.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal transfer fee to make the process a snap. If the outgoing residents are moving to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and bring your old components with you
You might need to bring along your old smart devices with you to a new house when you move. It should be fairly easy to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or contact a Vivint expert to come and take care of the system. Then our installers will set up the same components -- and any new items you need -- in your new house. And your home security contract will stay the same.
